KARACHI September 14, 2012: Aisha Alam is a young and exciting designer from Karachi whose elegant and minimal designs have been creating waves in the city. Her pastel-colored collection inspired from jewelry and titled “Bejewelled” was well received at all her stockists.
The rave reviews her collection was receiving all across the country inspired the newest multi-brand store, Showstopper, to get in touch with her. Showstopper located in Park Towers is the brainchild of two women who are eager to make a difference by providing carefully selected and curated collections from their favorite stores.
“I fell in love with Showstopper the instant I stepped inside,” said Aisha Alam, all praises for the clean and elegant interior of Park Tower’s only multi-brand store. “Unlike other such stores, they haven’t just crammed the store with clothes but have provided lots of negative space and area to roam around in which makes shopping here truly pleasurable.”
Showstopper is stocking collections from a number of top designers such as Rizwan Beyg and Shamaeel as well as upcoming brands such as Aisha Alam. Her new collection is a diversion from her last one, and is inspired by a desire to provide women with trendy and hi-fashion clothing at affordable prices.
“I design for the woman of today,” says the exuberant designer, who began her career at Gul Ahmed. “I believe in minimal but effective designs.” The designer is extremely happy with the response she is receiving to her chic prêt wear at Showstopper where her outfits are picked up on a daily basis. Her latest collection “Bejewelled” is getting an overwhelming response and the stock has to be replaced frequently since the pieces are “selling like hot cakes”, according to the sales staff of Showstopper. The main reasons for Aisha Alam’s popularity are her reasonable prices, and elegant and original design sensibility.
Aisha Alam is famous for her sailor-cut shirt, her cowl neck kurta, and long flowing shirts. The young designer enjoys using color blocking and vibrant patterns in her designs. “Color blocking is really fun and exciting,” says Aisha Alam. “It’s a great way to mix and match colors and create gradients and shades.”
Aisha Alam plans to expand to other cities of Pakistan very soon. Currently she stocks her collection in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad
